I also own “Virtuoso”, which can take a stereo or immersive mix originally intended for loudspeaker reproduction, and produce a convincing picture of loudspeakers or perhaps even performers in space - to be played in binaural on headphones! That tool works very well for its intended purpose…. I know that Flux SPAT can output a mix into various formats, including binaural. I have the full set of close mikes available to me, provided by the club owner, but have not yet had the time to investigate the tools needed to”mix in” the close mikes with specialized manipulation to end up with a convincing binaural picture. ![]() but of course the balance is a bit awry… the piano is too far away and the vocal is pretty much lost. I have a wonderful binaural recording I made with a dummy head in a jazz club…. It’s not just “blending”… there’s a lot of necessary manipulation to make it sound convincing. Continued abuse of our services will cause your IP address to be blocked indefinitely. How was the binaural track made? “Blending” in binaural with a multi-miked stereo mix is an art that I would like to learn myself. ![]() That warning is just revealed by running modprobe. Logic can't differentiate in this case, but someone else's knowledge and experience might.īy the way, "duff" has a variety of meanings around the globe, but for someone of my vintage it means rubbish. The troubleshooting method I'm using is to ask the questions I've written in my first post.įor example, if I get no activity shown in the Midi-ox monitor in XP, is it valid to assume the keyboard is duff, or does the absence of a driver produce the same symptom ? Not quite sure what you're suggesting here by way of "stuff", presumably hardware ? I know there is a store in my city that rents out musical equipment for cheap, maybe you could rent out some stuff and do a little troubleshooting. trying to see if it works on Windows first, before trying to sort out a Ubuntu set up. One of the first things I tried, and, as it didn't work, I started along the path that I spell out in the second sentence of my first post, namely. I sugguest getting a midi to usb adapter. I'm pretty "old skewl" myself, which might be inferred from my mentioning a CRO (Cathode Ray Oscilloscope for the uninitiated). Thank you for taking the time to post, JayPeeJay. I had one of those connections on an old windows pc setup, I don't even have a game port on my pc now so I couldn't even test it to see if it still works. I am unfamiliar with the device you are talking about, but it connects from your midi on the keyboard through your game port on your sound card? That is pretty old skewl. I've got a CRO somewhere, lots of leds, and digital meters, so if someone could offer an alternative method using hardware, that would also be useful. Google hasn't pointed me to one yet, nor to a manufacturer, but I'm still searching.Īlternatively, is there another way of checking the keyboard output ? Most grateful if anyone can give me a lead on this, if a driver is necessary, and even a source for one. Question - did this keyboard need a driver in Windows ? The only reference I can find via google is an old auction page mentioning that they had a floppy supplied with it when it was new. With Midi-ox running, it will allow me to use the pc keyboard to generate sounds, and the monitor window shows the data info flowing, but when I set the PCS as input midi and MS synth(if I remember correctly) as the output, and with both input and output monitor windows open, I see no activity, and get no sound. I've set the card as the default, and sound out of the card is ok. ![]() So I've got Midi-ox loaded in my 64bit desktop, running XP, and connected the keyboard via a new midi/games pci card (This thread is coming out of my Ubuntu 10.10). Taking the advice that I've read on other threads, I'm trying to see if it works on Windows first, before trying to sort out a Ubuntu set up. I'm having problems trying to test the output of an old midi keyboard, PCS Mk-101. ![]()
Either way, there’s a terrific opportunity for play. Maybe that leads you to call yourself agender or bigender or demiboy or mostly girl-or maybe it just means that you and your significant other share a wardrobe. Likewise, for eighteen-year-old Anwar Hadid and many of his peers, gender is a more or less arbitrary distinction, a boundary that can be traversed at will. The only thing I will say this game has in it's favour is some interesting design and artwork, and some of the monsters are genuinely unnerving. So to summarise, my experience was this: play two thirds of confusing and unsatisfying game and then get stuck on stupid puzzle due to poorly finished product and give up forever. And apparently there are far more bugs like this within the game. Now I know should have created multiple save games but, in this modern of age of gaming, I thought this was no longer required. Now because of this missing cleaver, I cannot progress. ![]() I played though 8 out 12 chapters when, for no reason at all, an essential part of a puzzle (a meat cleaver) randomly vanished from the game. Having said that I sort of learned to live with that until, the bugs. It's a million miles away from the elegance of the Batman games or the ammo conserving tension of the Resident evil series. Weren't the floating camera problems resolved by the original tomb raider games like, 15 years ago? Well apparently not. Your character seems to spend most of the time on the floor, or flailing in the dark with the camera stuck behind his shoulder. The game is quite combat orientated, and mostly melee weapon based, but the whole system is very annoying and slow. But then the sluggish combat begins to grate. If the gameplay is fun, I can live with suspect plot. But this is just video game so who cares about plot right? Well fair enough. It's just a bunch of stuff that happens and is quite confusing. It started ok - nice graphics, creepy monsters - but all went down hill from there. ![]() I'm a big fan of the survival horror genre (loved the resident evil and dead space games) so thought I'd give silent hill a go. The differences between a traditional economy and a digital economy come down to paper and manual processes versus tech and automation, physical products versus digital products and services, brick-and-mortar versus ecommerce, and cash versus cashless payments. Hasting’s innovative company soon added streaming, which forever changed the media landscape. Blockbuster had a chance to buy Netflix, but it passed on that opportunity. Netflix made late fees a thing of the past. People could create a digital account, order up to three titles at a time, have copies mailed to their homes within days, and - arguably the best part - keep those films for as long as they liked. In 1997, Reed Hastings founded Netflix, which made movie rentals infinitely more convenient. People would walk into a physical store, grab a hard copy of “Terminator II,” and pay with cash, check, or credit card to borrow some quality entertainment. For millions of Americans, it was the only way to watch movies after they left theaters. In the late ’90s, video rental giant Blockbuster reigned supreme with nearly 9,000 stores across the United States. Why digital is becoming core to our traditional economyĪ good way to think about the difference between a digital economy and a traditional economy is the rise of Netflix. In fact, at least two-thirds of executives say that digital business initiatives play a significant role in achieving their top business objectives. The digital economy allows companies to create new business models and economic value in ways we couldn’t imagine 30 years ago. It’s really a data-driven economy informed by the ability to collect, use, and analyze massive amounts of machine-readable information to deliver more personalized and meaningful experiences. Today, the digital economy is essentially any economic activity that occurs online. The focus then was on how emerging digital channels might impact consumers and businesses in the broader economy. The term “digital economy” dates back to the 1990s when the internet was still an add-on to analog products and services.
